EGaDS Chili Cook Off!

EGaDS is hosting a Chili Cook Off on campus on Saturday, February 20th. Why are we hosting a Chili Cook Off? There are two reasons.

1) Cooking is a creative team project that, like video game production, has a huge payoff.

2) It's cold outside, chili is hot.

To enter into the Chili Cook Off, or to learn more about how you can eat the chili that's going to be made, check out the rules and regulations here:

Global Game Jam a Homerun!

The Global Game Jame was a tremendous success. It drew over 30 people from all over Texas (including the Guildhall, Texas State, and Full Sail). Our members also made a strong showing with some great games using XNA and GameSalad. You can see all the games that were produced over the weekend here:

The Jam was so successful that there has been talk of hosting the Austin jam again next year, and possibly even having our own EGaDS jam sometime before that. Stay tuned for news about upcoming jams. Thanks to everyone who came out to make the jam possible!

Talking Game

EGaDS Hosts Global Game Jam!

We've had a great semester! Special props to our GameCraft finalists and tournament winners (pictured below), and special thanks to our guest speakers and lecturers.

But more is yet to come!

We'll be kicking off the next semester with our very own Global Game Jam on January 29th - 31st in the CBA Events Room. If you don't know what the Global Game Jam is, check out their site here: http://globalgamejam.org/ Basically it's a weekend of concentrated game design. Bring your laptop, your favorite IDE or existing game engine, and some friends to get cracking on your own game. After 48 hours of super pure, high octane, grade 'A', low carbon emission, high in Omega 3 fatty acids game design entrants will show off their game to the whole jam location. So come!

Whether your an experienced game designer or total newb with the desire and patience to learn, everyone can expect to learn and create something awesome all while having a lot of fun.

EGaDS will be the only Game Jam center in Texas so lets show 'em how it's done! Check out our Game Jam Guide for more info.
